DAP-PKR-PAS' betrayal of the Indians - malaysiakini
The recent announcement of the exco composition of the PKR-DAP-PAS
controlled Perak and Selangor is a huge let down for the marginalized
Indian community. It really borders on the outer limits of betrayal. Least
this letter be misconstrued as a mischievous attempt of a MIC or Barisan
supporter, let this be put to rest – we voted for PAS in Perak and for PKR
in Selangor.
And what do we marginalised Indians get in return? The same one miserable
exco seat each in Selangor and Perak – just like what Umno gave MIC. For a
marginalised community that started the tsunami what do we get – one
miserable seat. For a community that defied the police, bore the brunt of
tear gas, were charged with murder and placed in police lock ups and under
the ISA – what do we get? One miserable exco seat. We threw the dictator
Samy Vellu out in Perak and what do we get in Perak? One miserable exco
seat.
Anwar Ibrahim and Lim Kit Siang would not have had an audience at their
early ceramah if not for the Indians who made a sizable portion of the
audience. Others saw us coming out in the thousands for the ceramah and
decided to follow suit. A marginalised community ignited a revolution in
this country that ended up in a tsunami. And what do we get for it?
Betrayal.
The problems of the suppressed Indian community are too enormous for just a
single exco member to handle. A Sivanesan of Perak and Dr Xavier Jayakumar
would fail because the task is unmanageable – unmanageable by any single
person. Definitely an argument will be forthcoming that this Barisan Rakyat
represents all races and that their elected representatives would take care
of all regardless. If so, then why the tussle over exco seat allocations
between the parties? Why the wrangling over juicy portfolios like land and
local government?
How about PAS in Perak? Instead of taking three exco seats, why didn’t it
give up one and insist on two exco seats for Indians? How could PAS have
won these many seats both in Selangor and Perak if not for the 95% Indian
support for a party that wouldn’t even allow me, a Malaysian, to be a full
member because of my religion? Is this action a ‘Malaysian Malaysia’
action, can this action be called keadilan and is this the action of a
party that is rooted in religion?
We Indian Malaysians were colour blind, race blind and religion blind
during the last elections – because we didn’t want it to matter. To our
core, we were Malaysians first, Malaysians second and Malaysians third. We
placed our entire faith in the hands of the Barisan Rakyat parties. Now
have we been shortchanged. No, we have been betrayed instead.
How could one Indian exco member be successful in safeguarding the interest
of all the Indians as well as the interest of all Malaysians in Selangor
and Perak? The Malaysian Malaysia’s DAP website and PKR’s website don’t
even have sections in Tamil – only Bahasa Malaysia, English and Mandarin!
Now who is marginalising whom? Gentlemen, let your action speak louder than
all your sweet campaign words.
Please make amends to your actions. There are city council and municipal
council heads to be changed. The PKR-DAP-PAS coalition should ensure that
at least some of the big cities have an Indian as a mayor or municipal
head, both in Selangor and Perak. There are also state government bodies
and corporations. Please ensure adequate representation at senior levels.
Also, both these states, please come up with a comprehensive plan to combat
the problems the Indians are faced with. We are disappointed so far but we
are hopeful that the wrongs will be righted. We hope we will not be let
down again in the future.

THE RAKYAT'S LONG MARCH TO PUTRAJAYA HAS JUST BEGUN
We are now hearing a very disturbing yet not very surprising claim that the BN/Umno regime is going to bribe the voters of Permatang Pauh with RM 1,000 per vote to ensure that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wins with a slim majority. The was exposed by fellow patriotic Blogger Amin Iskandar@Black in his Bahasa Malaysia Blog http://aminiskandar.wordpress.com/

PWM: Future Plans for HINDRAF
HINDRAF
135-3 KEMAYAN SQUARE
70300 SEREMBAN
NEGERI SEMBILAN
Press Statement 05.08.08.
I refer to the recent launch of the Jalur Gemilang on August 3, 2008. In addition to the teleconference that was interrupted due to technical reasons, I would to add the following;
* Hindraf currently have been infiltrated with more than 200 Special Branch informers. HINDRAF's genuine supporters should and be aware there are many fellow "supporters " who pretend to be our loyal supporters but in fact they are agent provocateur planted by parties interested in destroying and dismantling HINDRAF's struggle for the Indian community. These agent provocateurs are not necessarily Police officers but informers who are in the payroll of Special Branch. In due cause, HINDRAF will reveal these personnels with evidence.
* The tag name HINDRAF has been used to promote businesses and enhancement of several personalities for their own benefits and objectives. Many see HINDRAF as an opportunity to gain leverage and dictate their own benefits. This is totally against HINDRAF principle. HINDRAF is you and me who are battling a war for better policies and governance for the Malaysian Indian as a society with equal and fair treatment in relation to education, economics and freedom of religion as oppose to individual glamour and glory. HINDRAF is involved for the well being of society not monetary and individual public recognization.
Further I would add the following as our future plans for the coming months
* HINDRAF's flag campaign to celebrate our 51st Merdeka Day on August 31, 2008;
* HINDRAF's request to the government for HINDRAF's supporter to march in the 51st National Day Parade as citizen of Malaysia;
* HINDRAF Relay Hunger strikes throughout the country starting with KLCC on every Sunday from August 10, 2008
* HINDRAF Hunger Strike for Merdeka Day and 24 hr YAAGAM in Seremban on 31st August 2008;
* HINDRAF supporters of at least 10,000 to attend PM's Hari Raya Open in Kepala Batas and the National Hari Raya celebration in Kuala Lumpur;
* HINDRAF supporter's of at least 10,000 in each state to attend the Hari Raya Open house in their respective Menteri Besar's house;
* HINDRAF to initiate nationwide appeal to all Sultans and Yang Dipertua Negeri starting with the state of Penang.
* HINDRAF request it's supporter to celebrate Deepavali in simplicity with family and friends and no open houses.
* HINDRAF shall intensify its campaign to release the HINDRAF 5 by approaching all countries in the United Nation if the Malaysian government continue to hold them arbitrarily for voicing their concern for the systematically discriminated Malaysian Indians beyond the end of December 2008
* HINDRAF would hold a mega gathering to commemorate November 25th mass Malaysian Indian uprising against neo colonialization of Malaysian Indians.

'A conspiracy in Hindraf review'
IPOH: The six-month review of the detention of the five Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) leaders on July 1 was a "camera-in-camera", with two senior federal counsel (SFC) conspiring with the investigating officer (IO), the High Court was told yesterday.
"Wahab (SFC Abdul Wahab Mohamed), Najib (SFC Najib Zakaria) and the IO conspired to hold it in camera. Whatever happened behind the back of the defence and counsel, we don't know," said counsel Karpal Singh when submitting on his habeas corpus application, which sought the release of the five Hindraf leaders detained under the Internal Security Act yesterday.
The five detainees are lawyers R. Kengadharan, 41, M. Manoharan, 47, V. Ganabatirau, 35, P. Uthayakumar, 47 and businessman K. Vasantha Kumar, 35.
At yesterday's proceedings, Karpal told judicial commissioner Ridwan Ibrahim that the IO was not called to give evidence or to rebut the evidence given by the five.
It was also not disputed that the IO's evidence was taken in camera and that further discussions were held in camera with Najib, in the absence of the five detained men and their counsel, he said.
"We asked for the IO to be called. If there were any points that the IO made that touched on national security, objections could be made. Court discretion should be exercised judiciously. How can they anticipate that what the IO said would touch on national security?" he asked.
The advisory board of the detention centre in Kamunting was to search for the "unvarnished truth" and see if the detention was justified, he added.
He submitted that the board was wrong in not applying the trappings of a judicial enquiry as required, when hearing the applicants' representation.
SFC Datuk Mohd Yusof Zainal Abidin said the review by the board was not a judiciary enquiry but an executive function.
"Thus, the right to cross-examine does not arise," he said, when responding to Karpal's complaint that he could not cross-examine the IO and that the IO did not cross-examine his clients' evidence during the review.
On the claim that the board did not comply with procedures, he cited a case in which the then Federal Court judge Tun Abdul Hamid Mohamad said: "It is not for the courts to make laws or rules. If there is no such procedural requirement, then there cannot be non-compliance thereof".
Karpal was assisted by counsel Gobind Singh Deo, Ram Karpal, P. Ponnmogam, R.S.N. Rayer and M. Kulasegaran, while Mohd Yusof appeared for both respondents -- home minister and the commandant of the Kamunting detention centre -- with Wahab and Najib. Ridwan fixed Sept 8 for decision.

MAKKAL SHAKTI: ANOTHER DISAPOINTMENT BY PAKATAN RAKYAT
WE STILL GOING TO SIT BACK AND SAY THAT THEY JUST TOOK CHARGE AND MUST GIVE THEM TIME. NOT EVEN 6 MONTHS AND THEY CLOSING DOWN TAMIL SCHOOLS....
PROF RAMASAMY STILL MULLING ON THIS MATTER..............
REFER TO THE PRESS REPORT BELOW
The school does not have enough classrooms. There is also no computer laboratory, science laboratory and library.
The paper also reported that the previous government under chief minister Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon and former state executive councillor P.K. Subbaiyah had approved the land near a Hindu temple in the Waterfall area that was identified by the school parent-teacher association in 2005.
The Penang Municipal Council, which owns the land, had also approved the allocation for the school.
MIC president and former works minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu had also obtained the necessary funds amounting to RM750,000 from the Federal Government to build the new school.
The Penang Municipal Council cancelled the land allocated to the school after the recent general election.
